Staircase Installation

A Plus Group recently completed this external steel staircase installation in Betty’s Bay, and it’s one of those projects where solid planning and good old-fashioned workmanship really paid off.

We started with a full site visit, taking all measurements on-site and assessing the existing structure and clearances to make sure the staircase would be safe, comfortable to use, and compliant with the space. From there, we moved into the design phase, producing a practical layout that would suit the building, the landing position, and the user flow—without wasting space or compromising on safety.

Once the design was approved, we handled the full fabrication in-house, building the stair structure, balustrades and handrails, and fitting chequer plate treads for reliable grip (especially important in coastal conditions where surfaces can get slick). The final staircase has a clean, functional finish with strong lines, proper support, and a tidy install that looks sharp against the building.

Installation was completed on-site, including alignment, fixing, and final fitment. As with many real-world builds, the job didn’t end the minute it was “installed” — the client requested a few changes after seeing it in place, so we returned to make the necessary adjustments and refinements to match their preferences. That’s the part people don’t always see: showing up again, sorting it out properly, and leaving the client happy.

Overall, this was a well-executed project from start to finish: measured, designed, fabricated, installed, and refined—delivering a sturdy, good-looking staircase built to handle the Betty’s Bay environment and daily use for years to come.
